7 Tips to Help You Prevent Tinnitus

If you will pardon the pun you hear a lot about tinnitus and cures these days but the best remedy is to try and avoid putting yourself into a position whereby you may damage your hearing. Here are a number of tips that you should bear in mind if you are concerned about suffering from tinnitus in the future.

Tip 1
Try and avoid not exposing your ears to loud noises. It has been shown that continuous exposure to noises over 70dB can affect your hearing.

Tip 2
A problem lurking around the corner for many of today’s teenagers and young adults is damage to the ears caused by music levels on stereo headphones. The best thing to do is to find your preferred volume and then turn it down a notch. This could help save your hearing later on in life.

Tip 3
If you are use power tools or work on sites where the noise levels are high then as part of work and safety you should be issued with special ear muffs or plugs to protect your hearing. If you have these then make sure you use them.

Tip 4
It is known that in some cases some prescription and over the counter drugs may have a side effect of bringing on ringing in the ears. If you are concerned then seek advice from your doctor with regards to your current prescription as you may need to have it changed if you have a problem.

If you have circulation problems then you may suffer with tinnitus so the best thing to do is make sure that you exercise regularly and partake of a healthy diet. Tip 6
It is reported that a number of items in your diet can cause tinnitus. If you feel that you may have an occurrence coming on and you have partaken of a high salt diet, drank alcohol or had caffeine then you may find that by reducing your consumption of these items that the symptoms will go away. Smoking also comes under this category and some people may benefit from abstaining from smoking for a period to find out if that is a contributory factor to their problem.

Tip 7
Any major changes in your body weight can cause imbalances within your body which can result in the symptom of tinnitus. The main tip here is that whilst it is good to lose the pounds if you are overweight make sure that you reduce your weight in a sensible controlled fashion so that your body can adjust as you are losing weight.

To summarise therefore there are things that you can do to avoid tinnitus in the future. If you are careful and don’t abuse your hearing then you are going a long way towards avoiding tinnitus in your future. One final tip which can save you a lot of agony – don’t put things in your ears!
